Motivation
The idea of building a robotic arm came to me after seeing the Universal Robots UR5 in my undergrad uni's robotics lab. It was impressive to see it in action, but student access was heavily restricted.
"Screw it! I'll make my own!" said the naive and arrogant undergrad me, not knowing the countless sleepless nights i'll spend on this :')
I started with a smaller three-degree-of-freedom robotic arm for a robotics project. I controlled it with an Arduino, and I integrated it with the Robot Operating System (ROS). The following is what that small arm evolved into
